Power supply issues disrupted the NEET PG 2026 exam at two centers in Jaipur on Sunday, August 30, 2026, forcing the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE) to reschedule the test for affected candidates.
Technical failure halts exam at Sitapura centers
According to the NBE, the examination could not be completed at the iON Digital Zone iDZ centres in Sitapura due to an internal power supply failure. The disruption, attributed to exam conducting agency M/s TCS Ltd., reportedly affected the remaining 2,445 candidates.
Candidates at the affected centres faced repeated interruptions during the computer-based test. Some students claimed their systems shut down six to seven times, while others said questions appeared briefly before the screens went black again. The repeated technical glitches forced many to leave their seats and protest outside the venue.
Several candidates alleged that no clear explanation was provided by centre staff regarding the failures. They raised concerns over the confidentiality of the exam, noting that questions had appeared on some computer screens before the systems went down. The group demanded an impartial inquiry and assurance that technical failures would not disadvantage them.
ACP Lalit Sharma, who reached the site following the protests, stated that the server was not working properly. “Some candidates’ computers opened while others did not, causing disruption to the examination,” he said. “We are discussing the matter with them and trying to counsel them.”

Re-exam set for September 5, probe ordered
In response to the protests, the NBE announced a re-examination for the 2,445 candidates who could not complete the test. The rescheduled exam will take place on September 5, 2026, at 3 pm in Jaipur. The board stated that revised admit cards and venue details would be shared separately.
Amid the controversy, the NBE constituted a three-member committee to examine the circumstances that led to the power failure. The panel is headed by Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department in Rajasthan. It includes a Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary and a senior engineering official from the Central Electricity Authority.
The committee has been tasked with submitting a report within a specified timeframe to determine the root cause of the disruption and prevent future occurrences.
Dr Rohan Krishnan, Chief Patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), expressed concern over the quality of examination centres. “The issues reported at several centres during NEET PG 2026 are a matter of serious concern,” Krishnan told Medical Dialogues.
