A day after the NEET PG 2026 examination was disrupted by a power failure at two test centres in Jaipur, a similar issue has struck the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The AIIMS CRE 2026 also faced an internal power supply failure at the same facilities, leading to a cancellation and a rescheduled date for the affected candidates.
The CRE examination was scheduled to take place on August 31, 2026, at 9 am at two specific centres, RJ0101 and RJ0102, operated by TCS at the iON Digital Zone in Sitapura. A total of 2,000 candidates were registered for these locations, with 1,342 appearing at RJ0101 and 436 at RJ0102. The exam was interrupted almost immediately after it began.
The disruption mirrors the situation that occurred roughly 24 hours earlier. Around 2,445 candidates at the same two centres were unable to complete the NEET PG 2026 exam, prompting the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to announce a re-exam for September 5, 2026. Now, the AIIMS CRE candidates are facing a nearly two-week delay.
According to a press note released by AIIMS, the examination was intended to be a two-day event across three shifts to accommodate candidates applying for multiple posts. The authority noted that the test was running smoothly at all other centres across the country until the incident at the Sitapura location.

Rescheduled date and investigation
In response to the interruption, AIIMS has decided to cancel the examination at the two Jaipur centres and conduct a fresh exam on September 7, 2026. The institute stated that it is identifying suitable venues in the city to accommodate the affected candidates, potentially grouping them or breaking them into smaller cohorts to manage the logistics.
AIIMS has also instructed TCS to submit a detailed report regarding the incident. The agency has been directed to preserve relevant system logs, CCTV footage, and control-room communications to assist in a detailed assessment of the circumstances. This comes as claims of a paper leak have begun circulating online, though no verified evidence has been presented to confirm the AIIMS CRE question paper was compromised.
TCS iON acknowledged the internal power failures affecting the iDZ Sitapura centre due to what they described as “unknown local electrical issues.” The company expressed regret to the candidates and said it is working with authorities to ensure the examinations can be completed as soon as possible.
